In this episode, host LeTonya F. Moore speaks with Deborah Maragopoulos, a bestselling author, family nurse practitioner, mother, advocate and entrepreneur.

She is the founder of non-profit Divine Daughters Unite, designed to empower young women through compassionate service. Also, Deborah became an expert in gender identity, hormones and DNA after choosing to save her intersex child from conventional medicine. The most renowned pediatric endocrinologist on the West Coast told her that her baby was an XY female, which means the chromosomes were male, but the genitalia appeared female. When the doctors said “it was easier to make a hole than a pole,” she followed her intuition against medical advice and went with her child’s DNA, knowing that he may decide later what gender best suited him (or her, or they…). Deborah is going to share her experience with raising an intersexed child.
